Transform a neglected courtyard at a historic Nashville apartment complex into a functional outdoor space for residents—all while addressing major drainage issues.
Our client envisioned a cozy, rustic environment that felt like an extension of home: inviting, peaceful, and easy to gather in.
OUR APPROACH
We fixed the site’s drainage issues, then designed the layout around two existing cherry trees—preserving them and transforming their cramped planters into a shared garden bed.
Walkways, patios, built-in seating, warm lighting, and a fire pit invite gathering and relaxation, while natural textures and rustic charm create a cohesive flow throughout the space.
THE RESULTS
Now, the courtyard serves as a welcoming outdoor retreat—where residents gather around the fire pit, relax on benches shaded by the cherry trees, and enjoy moments of calm in a once-forgotten space.
